5th PMNET Forum 2026
Updated: 3 minutes ago

The PMNET Forum 2026 on 8-9th of October was a two-day event, where researchers, clinicians, industry representatives and healthcare stakeholders were brought together to discuss the latest developments in precision medicine. The programme covered topics including functional precision medicine, biobanking, molecular diagnostics, systems biology and the translation of research into clinical practice.

A particular highlight for the Computational Systems Biology Group was the opportunity to welcome Prof. Hans Westerhoff, one of the world's leading systems biologists. Prof. Westerhoff's work has helped shape modern systems biology, metabolic control analysis and computational approaches for understanding complex biological systems.
Beyond the scientific sessions, the forum also created valuable opportunities for networking and strengthening collaborations.

Together with Prof. Westerhoff, we visited the top floor of the National Library of Latvia, enjoying panoramic views across Riga and reflecting on the city's growing role in international biomedical research. The discussions continued into the evening, when colleagues gathered for dinner in Riga's city centre, to rewind, exchange ideas, discuss future of the systems biology community.

The forum highlighted the importance of international scientific exchange for advancing precision medicine and systems biology research in Latvia. We are grateful to Prof. Westerhoff for joining the PMNET Forum and for sharing his expertise and insights with the community.
We look forward to continuing discussions and exploring future opportunities for collaboration!
