Metabolic engineering aims to design organisms for applications in biotechnology taking into account the systemic mathematical description of the chassis system and potential improvements deleting or adding reactions. All reactions from the "nature toolbox" can be considered for inclusion.
Depending on the scope of biochemical processes taken into account the designed organism can perform biotransformation with different success. Our group aims at the implementation of different types of constraints to improve the feasibility of the developed designs fr practical implementations. We combine stoichiometric and kinetic modeling to cover more aspects of the process of interest.
