CryZym project progress meeting

CryZym project partners had one of the meetings on October 1, 2019, to discuss the progress. The project “Crypthecodinium cohnii and Zymomonas mobilis syntrophy for production of omega 3 fatty acid from byproducts of biofuel and sugar industry” has been started 1-st April 2019 as collaboration our institute with the Institute of Wood Chemistry and JSC "Biotehniskais Centrs".

Regular meetings take place to learn about fermentation parameters of single organism and in co-cultivation. Important issue is also to follow the amount of produced fraction of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) from omega 3 fatty acid family. JSC Biotehniskais centrs keeps informing about experimental results using alginate beads as well as alginate beads with immobilised Z.mobilis. Institute of Wood Chemistry reports about the progress in separation technology adaptation to collect DHA.
