This summer I had the chance to attend the 17th Congress of the European Association for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (EACPT2025) in Helsinki, representing our Computational Systems Biology group. The congress, organized by the Finnish Society of Clinical Pharmacology together with the European Society of Clinical Pharmacology and the Local Organizing Committee, welcomed participants from across the world to discuss the latest advances in our field.

EACPT has been running for 30 years, since its first edition in Paris in 1995, and it was clear in Helsinki that the tradition of bringing together researchers, clinicians, and educators remains as strong as ever. This year’s theme — “Embracing Innovations for Optimized Patient Care” — perfectly framed the discussions on how new research and therapies are shaping the future of healthcare.

The program offered three parallel tracks that gave something for everyone:

  • Clinical Pharmacology in Healthcare and Teaching

  • Drug Research and Development

  • Emerging Drugs and Therapies

It was inspiring to hear about the latest advancements, from novel strategies in drug development to the integration of new therapies into clinical practice. Equally valuable were the opportunities to meet colleagues — both old friends and new connections — and exchange ideas about how systems biology and computational methods can contribute to these evolving areas.

Helsinki itself provided a beautiful setting, with its midsummer light and welcoming atmosphere adding to the experience. The combination of excellent science, stimulating discussions, and a vibrant environment made this congress a memorable milestone for our group’s involvement in the international clinical pharmacology community.
