18th International Conference on Systems Biology took place on August 6 to 12, 2017 in Blacksburg, Virginia (USA).
The number of participants at the world's biggest conference on systems biology seemingly heavily depends on the reachability by airplane and local accommodation options. This year the conference was relatively small but organizers did a good job and the event was a great opportunity to see friends and exchange knowledge. Agris Pentjuss and Egils Stalidzans met COPASI developer's team, users of COBRApy and other peers.
For the first time Egils met John Doyle who was inspiring and promoting applications of engineering approaches in systems biology when Egils just entered the field in 2005.
Next year the conference takes place in Lyon, France.
